The

Western Wisconsin Market Manager

is responsible for building and maintaining professional relationships with key distributor personnel, On-Premise accounts, and Off-Premise accounts to maximize sales, promote the Surly brand and achieve target distribution and volume goals. This dynamic individual will strive to accomplish this in the assigned territory by identifying new opportunities, active selling, and motivating distributor sales teams to prioritize the brand in their portfolio.

Salary : 60-70,000

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Support surly brewing company core values, purpose, and philosophies. Develop extensive knowledge and expertise of surly products and production process. Drive distribution and sales volume in the assigned territory by identifying new opportunities, active selling, and motivating distributor sales teams to prioritize the surly brand in their portfolio. Develop and maintain relationships with owners, managers, buyers, retail sales staff, and bartenders in key accounts in order to increase distribution and volume. Conduct formal trainings and ride along with key distributor sales representatives in assigned territories. Set up and conduct staff trainings for key accounts. Execute sell-through and merchandising initiatives for On Premise and retail accounts to increase consumer trial and engagement. Effectively plan and execute sales strategies as determined by vp of sales and regional sales manager to maximize distribution and volume. Work in collaboration with regional manager as well as chain account managers to achieve team targets, introduce new marketing initiatives, and implement promotions. Work directly with distributors and their sales teams to promote surly brands, achieving mutually agreed upon distribution and volume goals, while staying within THE MARKET and travel budgets. Use VIP and syndicated data to help identify opportunities and gain business insights. Monitor beer inventory to maintain proper levels based on sales trends, promotional activity, new product innovations, and key marketing initiatives ensuring continued surly product freshness and quality standards. Perform administrative tasks as they are assigned (expense reports, monthly work calendars, establishing distribution targets, evaluate discount programs, conduct price surveys). Attend special events, festivals, beer dinners, tastings, and represent the surly brand in order to maximize consumer engagement. Develop consistent market visitation schedules within the territory, including building a key account list consisting of on/off premise accounts and chains. Monitor product freshness based on date codes at both distributor warehouses and retail accounts. Represent surly at various festivals, tastings, tap events, and conferences. 85% of time will be spent actively selling to deliver against distribution & volume goals, with roughly 15% of time being spent on administrative duties. BACHELOR'S degree preferred 4+ years of previous sales experience working in the three tier distribution system with an alcohol supplier or wholesaler qualified candidates must be familiar with the territory for which they are applying

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate in person, via phone, and in writing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and be able to move kegs which weigh 165 pounds.

The work environment will vary for this position, given the nature of the job duties. Employee will spend ample time in a car, their home office, and visiting accounts. The noise levels will vary based on location. This position will also require flexible hours, which will sometimes include nights and weekends in a bar or event atmosphere.
