SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Instructional Designer will provide instructional and program design expertise for the development and support of learning content delivered in various modalities. This role will work closely in a collaborative environment to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer. This role will be instrumental in assessing, implementing, and integrating instructional design concepts and learning technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works collaboratively with Hibbett | City Gear leaders to set instructional end goals and create content that matches them.
- Visualize, plan, and create instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product.
- Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design.
- Determine the best training modalities and develop learning experiences to address training needs.
- Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts to determine the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve Hibbett | City Gears strategic objectives.
- Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods.
- Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
- Decide on the criteria used to judge learners performance and develop assessment instruments.
- Maintain project documentation and course folders.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role does not carry supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous working experience in instructional design for (5-7+) years.
- Retail industry experience preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
- Lesson and curriculum planning skills.
- Experience with course authoring tools such as Adobe Suites and Articulate.
- Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge.
- Visual design skills.
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio, and video scripts.
- Strong time management and organization skills.
