The Real Estate Division is comprised of over 220 full-time staff delivering professional real estate services to various clients. The Division includes four main subparts: Administration/Building Management, Transactions, Engineering, and Custodial, and acts as a real estate consultant to Departments, the Mayor, and the Board of Supervisors. We are responsible for real property transactions, including acquisition and leases for City purposes, sales of surplus real property, operations at the Alemany Farmers' and Flea Markets, and providing custodial and engineering services for various City departments. The Assistant Director (aka Deputy Managing Director of the Real Estate Division) assists the Director of Property and is responsible for administration, management, and supervision of the division’s operations; developing, coordinating, and executing policies and procedures; representing the Real Estate Division at the Board of Supervisors and with City officials; working with finance and accounting staff on the division’s budget; and overseeing human resource matters. Primary Duties Include: Acting as Director of Property during the Director’s absences. Assisting the Director with supervision of the Real Estate Division’s Campus Managers and administrative staff. Developing, coordinating, and executing policies and procedures. Managing the budget, contracts, and human resources. Assisting with transactions and special projects as necessary. How to qualify EDUCATION: Baccalaureate degree in real estate, business, law, public administration, or related field; AND EXPERIENCE: Seven years of progressively responsible real property appraisal, transaction negotiation, and/or property management experience, including three years of responsible supervisory experience. SUBSTITUTION: Up to 2 years of the required education may be substituted with additional qualifying experience. Desirable Qualifications: Possession of an advanced degree (MA, MPP, JD, or PhD) in public policy, public or business administration, law, or finance. Managerial and administrative experience in a public sector agency. Proven collaboration and relationship-building skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
