Salary: $35,000 - $41,600 Annually

Job Overview:

Rapp GMC, a leading automotive dealership in Syracuse, NY, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk to join our accounting team. This position will be responsible for handling day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payables and receivables, and supporting the finance department in maintaining financial records.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

Process and review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval. Prepare and issue payments via check, ACH, wire transfer, or other methods as required. Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies. Maintain vendor relationships and respond to inquiries regarding payment status. Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.

Accounts Receivable:

Process incoming payments and apply them to customer accounts. Generate and send out customer invoices. Follow up with customers on overdue accounts and assist in collections. Reconcile accounts receivable ledgers and ensure accuracy of payments. Investigate and resolve discrepancies or payment issues. General Responsibilities: Assist with month-end and year-end close processes. Maintain accurate and organized financial records. Support internal and external audit requests. Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial issues. Provide general administrative support to the accounting department as needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 2+ years of experience in accounts payable and receivable or similar accounting role. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with vendors, customers, and internal teams. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
