Role Overview The Purchase Experience (PX) Strategy and Applied Innovation role will lead the charge on providing cutting-edge perspectives that will challenge NYL’s current points of view on capabilities and operating model within the Purchase Experience function, with the goal of better serving our agents and clients and supporting our employees. We are seeking someone who is experienced in managing an in-house competitive insights capability – effectively operating and using the resulting insights to develop tactical plans and bring them to life and driving changes through experimentation and testing. This role involves being able to set a vision and drive the execution and impact – and will involve exposure to senior leadership, requiring experience with executive communications. What You'll Do: Applied Innovation & Business Experimentation Explore operating models used by competitors and market leaders, both inside and outside the insurance industry, to identify factors that contribute to differences in outcomes. Engage cross-functional innovation groups by conducting solutioning workshops to generate ideas and define actionable solutions. Synthesize agent, client, and employee needs into strategies to address gaps, bringing in cross-functional teams as needed for mobilization. Identify solutions that address current and emerging roadblocks / issues within the purchase experience at NYL with a focus on impact and adoption or proposed solutions. Develop an execution plan for assessing and acquiring new capabilities and technologies to drive innovation. Oversee the stand-up of an in-house, PX-focused competitive intelligence capability that synthesizes external and internal insights to drive purposeful action. Collaborate with the broader NYL competitive intelligence community to align on ongoing approach and create solutions aligned with long-term strategic direction. Strategic Planning Define and prioritize strategic objectives, initiatives, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Enhance cross-functional/cross-business coordination to support the execution of PX portfolio of strategic initiatives. Work with stakeholders across the function to coordinate impact, while maintaining a focus on organizational strategy-setting. Contribute towards the development and execution of strategic initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams. Monitor progress toward strategic goals and make necessary adjustments to ensure successful implementation. Create and communicate a compelling strategic narrative that inspires and motivates employees and stakeholders. What You'll Bring: Professional Background 7-10 years of relevant industry experience Proven experience in strategic planning and execution, preferably in a leadership role Experience with innovation, product management, product strategy, and implementation. Experience constructing and/or leveraging competitive insights to develop actionable insights. Experience working in an environment where experience design, design thinking, UX design, design sprints, and digital innovation are used daily. Experience with or knowledge of working in Agile environments and developing proofs of concept or minimum viable products. Personal Skills Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills, including the ability to effectively contribute across multiple teams and disciplines. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex or abstract ideas in simple terms with maximum impact (including excellent PowerPoint/presentation software skills) Possess strong general consulting skills and can overcome internal barriers through drive and determination. Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute work within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Pay Transparency Salary Range: $122,500-$210,000 Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
