As the
Director of Strategic Sourcing for Raw Materials and Components , you will oversee the development and execution of sourcing strategies to support the Gigafactory project. Your focus will include identifying and managing suppliers, negotiating supplier agreements, and ensuring supply chain continuity for raw materials and components critical to the business. This role is integral to the operational success and cost management of the Gigafactory, requiring a balance of tactical execution and strategic planning in collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and Execute Sourcing Plans:
Collaborate with internal teams to design and implement strategic sourcing plans for raw materials and components aligned with the Gigafactory’s objectives. Supplier Identification and Selection:
Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers to build a reliable supply chain network, considering quality, lead time, vendor-managed inventory, compliance, and total cost. Supplier Relationship Management:
Foster and manage relationships with key suppliers, ensuring adherence to agreed terms and driving continuous performance improvement. Contract Negotiation:
Work closely with internal legal and contract teams to negotiate and implement supplier agreements, including managing key contractual issues and escalating challenges as needed. Support New Product Introduction (NPI):
Partner with project managers to ensure supplier readiness for new product launches and transitions. Global Supply Chain Improvements:
Analyze supply chain performance metrics, such as lead times and landed costs, to identify opportunities for improvement and execute corrective actions. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with internal stakeholders, including procurement, manufacturing, and logistics teams, to align supply chain objectives with business goals. Supplier Capability Development:
Collaborate with suppliers to enhance capabilities and drive innovation, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with long-term business strategies. Occasional Travel:
Travel globally to visit suppliers and support relationship-building efforts. Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a Master’s degree is a plus. At least 7 years of experience in global sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in raw materials or direct components. Proven experience negotiating supplier agreements and managing supplier performance. Strong leadership and collaboration skills in a cross-functional, global environment. Excellent communication skills in written, verbal, and presentation formats. Preferred Qualifications: Global experience/exposure. Familiarity with the automotive or energy storage industry.
