JOB OVERVIEW
The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) leads strategic communications and enterprise-wide marketing at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the CMO leads the Department of Communications + Marketing. Collaborating with partners and affiliates, the CMO advances the University's reputation and reach across multiple platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Core responsibilities for the CMO include: Oversee the University's brand identity and messaging architecture, ensuring clarity, alignment and activation. Further develop the marketing behind Next Lives Here, the University's enterprise-wide strategic direction. Lead the University's digital engagement strategies, including social media, web design and development, content management, digital advertising and analytics. Direct the University's communications strategies, including media relations, national placements, campus news and crisis communications. Lead the University's creative and brand services, including design, photography, videography and visual expression. Partner with Enrollment Management to continuously improve student recruitment and experience strategies. Partner with the deans and senior leaders to align and advance division-level communications and marketing. Ensure institutional messaging reflects and advances the University's enduring commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Lead and advance the financial position of the Department via creative budget strategies as well as the optimization of resources. Maintain a visible presence on campus to lead the Department and promote the University's agenda.
PERFORMANCE
Core performance expectations for the CMO include: Advance the University's mission, vision and values. Recruit, retain and inspire a diverse, creative and highly motivated team to lead the University into a new era of innovation, inclusion and impact. Create a culture preoccupied with clarity—of thought, writing, expression, design and implementation. Seek to pull attention rather than push content. Leverage innovative technologies to further advance content management, including customization, personalization, optimization and tracking. May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). REQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Ten (10) years of relevant experience in progressive leadership roles.
