As a RAS Architect, you will be responsible for developing and architecting full-stack flows for mission-critical features like Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) for next-generation Azure Hardware. You will drive Silicon and System Architecture definition, develop full-stack architecture specifications, and work with Silicon and platform partners to drive the implementation of features across the entire vertical stack (Silicon, Firmware, Software, Platform, etc.) Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. Principal RAS Architect

to join the team. Responsibilities Define and develop Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) architecture specifications for Azure datacenter CPU’s. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product and platform architecture, peer System on Chip (SOC) architects, IP architects, Performance/Modeling architects, Software (OS and Hypervisor) and Firmware architects, Design, Validation, and Execution teams. Ensure robust, performant, and forward-looking solutions by looking at the solution space from a broader system perspective. Drive technical discussions leading to crisp decisions and conflict resolutions. Lead cross-organizational teams to deliver architectural clarity and support validation plan development. Qualifications Required/Minimum Qualifications 9+ years of related technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience or internship experience OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience or internship experience OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience. 8+ years of experience in CPU and System Architecture. 5+ years of experience with RAS features and their implementation in hardware and software. 5+ years of experience with analyzing and mitigating soft errors at the System on Chip (SoC) level. Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Additional or Preferred Qualifications Experience in developing full-stack architecture specifications and working with Silicon and platform partners. Ability to straddle the Hardware/Software boundaries. Problem-solving skills, out-of-box thinking, and quick learning abilities. Ability to lead cross-organization teams. Silicon Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
