Position Overview: As a Senior / Staff Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer at Waabi (US) Inc., you will work alongside a team of multidisciplinary engineers and research scientists to enable safe self-driving at scale. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the growing need for cloud usage and propose strategies for compute and data usage in training and simulation workloads. You will design and implement scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure, promote best practices for cloud usage, and oversee cloud strategies across the company. Key Responsibilities: Work with a team to enable safe self-driving at scale, using an AI-first approach. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the growing need for cloud usage and propose strategies for compute and data usage in training and simulation workloads. Design and implement scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure, optimized for long-term reliability and adaptability. Devise and promote best practices for cloud usage in training and simulation environments, overseeing cloud strategies across the company. Read and develop production-quality software. Schedule jobs and allocate resources. Monitor and improve system performance. Work with containers and container orchestration. Provide support for Linux systems. Develop platform services for other teams to use. Work in an Agile/Scrum environment. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s/PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of relevant industry experience. Experience in reading and developing production-quality software. Deep understanding of cloud compute and data storage for distributed training and inference workloads. Familiarity with Python, GO, Rust, or C++ ecosystems. Experience with public cloud platforms, preferably AWS. Experience with infrastructure as code systems, preferably Terraform. Experience with job scheduling and resource allocation. Experience with containers and container orchestration, such as Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes. Comfortable working with Linux systems. Experience building platform services for other teams to use. Open-minded and collaborative team player with a willingness to help others. Passion for self-driving technologies, solving tough problems, and creating innovative solutions. Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment. Bonus/Nice to Have: Experience with on-premise servers, network equipment, and scale-out storage systems. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release management. Familiarity with common ML tools, workflows, and frameworks, such as Kubeflow or MLFlow. Understanding of system performance tuning at the software, hardware, and network levels. Knowledge of GPUs and accelerators in ML training and inference use cases. Compensation: The annual salary range for this role is $158,000 – $269,000 USD, in addition to competitive perks and benefits. Waabi (US) Inc. determines yearly salary ranges based on various factors and compensation practices. The salary base range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position across all US locations. Please note that the company provides additional compensation for employees in this role, including equity incentive awards and an annual performance bonus.
