Accounting Manager

This position is full-time on-site in Fairfield, Maine, with a hybrid option available


Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting personnel as well as records, and processes and verifying financial reporting accuracy in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This role is responsible to monitor compliance with various regulatory bodies, as well as review, direct and ensure proper monthly close process, year-end tasks and annual audits. The Accounting Manager is also responsible to provide financial analysis and reports to support better financial performance metrics.

This position is full-time on-site in Fairfield, Maine for the first 90 days, with a hybrid option available


Responsibilities

  • Oversight of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions
  • Oversight of Accountant functions and personnel
  • Preparation of monthly inventory reconciliation to the general ledger
  • Posting journal entries for month-end close process
  • Oversight of cost of goods sold analysis by product line, research of variances in performance
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Coordinate and oversee annual financial audits
  • Ensure timely and accurate sales tax returns and remittances by third party vendor
  • Ensure completion of monthly general ledger account reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with banking, insurance policies, sales tax, seed registrations, royalty agreements, and unclaimed property
  • Analyze the company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets.
  • Preparation of annual budget and financial forecasts
  • Preparation of monthly grant revenue tracking
  • Administration of company credit card and expense management programs


Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with adequate accounting curriculum from an accredited college/university.


Qualifications & Skills

  • 2-4 years of Finance experience in a manufacturing or retail business required.
  • Cost accounting experience in relation to inventory management is a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • General Ledger experience, Sage/Intacct a plus
  • Analytical, reporting and data querying skills a plus
  • Detail-oriented approach to work, with respect for confidentiality
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Motivated and self-starter
  • Adaptable - supports and implements change as necessary

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move, manipulate and operate computer equipment
  • Capable of sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to bend, pull and lift (up to 35 lbs. occasionally)
