POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fitness Coordinator provides the first point of contact for all guests in the fitness area. The Fitness Coordinator is expected to provide world-class customer service to all members and guests and has a thorough working knowledge of all fitness programs and offerings. In addition, must be able to supervise and provide direction to all types of personnel.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Hire, train and develop the Fitness Team
- Responsible for all operations of the Fitness Center
- The Fitness Coordinator will be in charge of planning and implementing health promotion programs and initiatives
- Work with the General Manager on the Fitness Center budget
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Fitness Center, including Group Exercise, Personal Training, promotions and member retention, sales and operations
- Maintain the fitness area computer system and upgrade and collaborate with technical staff
- Create and effectively coordinate the staff schedule for the personal trainers and/or group exercise instructors
- Greet members and guests and provide prompt answers and directions as needed
- Ownership of the maintenance of the fitness area utilizing in-house staff and/or vendors to ensure safe and first-class equipment and environment
- Be knowledgeable about prices, programming and the daily venue schedule
- Assist with maintaining accurate records of participant waivers, event information and incident reports
- Resolve all guest concerns and complaints and/or direct to appropriate Manager
- Help provide a guest feedback/concerns medium for communication, and directing that feedback to the appropriate supervisor
- Complete special projects, daily assignments and other duties as directed by management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in exercise science, health education, public health or related field is preferred
- Minimum of two years of supervision experience in a sport/fitness center
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours) and regular attendance necessary
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Must have excellent guest service skills
- Must be detail-oriented and have outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to operate and use all equipment in facilities
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist high
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop, or bend
- Will be required to operate a computer
- Must be able to pass a drug screening and background check
