ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

For over 20 years, Scher Group, PLLC, a full-service public accounting firm located in Boulder, CO, has provided accounting, tax, payroll and advisory services to a diverse roster of clients throughout the small business community.  

We’re currently seeking a tech-savvy self-starter with 2+ years of recent public accounting experience for a critical role responsible for completing bookkeeping duties for our small business clients.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and assemble client data for preparation of monthly accounting records
• Prepare and self-review monthly financial statements
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements and notify clients of adjustments made
• Prepare client expense disbursements
• Complete payroll reporting, accounts receivable and accounts payable if needed
• Maintain accurate and complete work papers and journal entries in the detailed general ledger
• Prepare accurate and timely 1099s and sales tax returns
• Cultivate client relationships through meaningful monthly client contact
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Accounting or bookkeeping certificate, or related field, OR proven bookkeeping experience in a public accounting firm
• 2-5 years of recent accounting experience 
• Strong technical skills including QuickBooks Online proficiency required; Xero software proficiency is a plus
