As a CNC Operator/Programmer, you will leverage your experience in operating 5-Axis, Mill/Turn, or Multi-tasking CNC machines. Familiarity with Mazatrol and/or MasterCam Mill/Turn is advantageous. Your role involves setting up and operating 3, 5, and 8-axis CNC machines to aid Busek's advancement of in-space propulsion technologies. You will collaborate with a team dedicated to crafting the latest electronic propulsion thrusters and systems. Come join our team About Busek: Busek researches, develops, and produces technologies for challenging space missions for small spacecraft in low-earth orbit, large geostationary satellites, and CubeSats and probes going to the moon and beyond. Our talented staff have collective expertise spanning in-space propulsion, space-borne sensors, materials science, manufacturing, and high-fidelity electronic design. Busek's accomplishments include: the first US Hall Effect Thruster in space, the first Micro-PPT Thrusters, and the first flight Electrospray Thrusters. Our present efforts span high-volume and low-volume production of high-reliability in-space propulsion components and systems as well as development of novel processes and technologies. Day to day activities: Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Checks stock inventory of materials and tools to determine amount available, anticipating needed stock. Programs mill/turn machines and lathes using CAD/CAM software; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets; indicating vices. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards. Maintaining specifications involves observing drilling, grooving, and cutting activities, such as turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations. It also includes taking measurements, identifying malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, as well as sharpening and replacing worn tools, all while adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Desired skills: Experience in set-up of CNC lathes and CNC vertical milling machines Proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools and their application is essential. Such instruments include, but are not limited to, calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, and indicators. Strong understanding in blueprint reading/ geometric tolerance interpretation. Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machines. Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to arithmetic, geometry, and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
