A law firm seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Digital Risk Advisory and Cyber-Security Associate Attorney to join their Denver, CO office. This role is ideal for an attorney with over 7 years of experience in privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity. The successful candidate will provide proactive and reactive counsel on privacy and data security matters, including advising on data security incidents, regulatory investigations, and compliance with legal obligations. Key Responsibilities: Provide legal counsel on privacy and data protection compliance, including proactive and reactive measures. Advise clients on privacy and security obligations under state, federal, and international laws. Counsel clients on data security incident notification obligations across various jurisdictions. Defend clients in regulatory investigations related to privacy and cybersecurity matters. Collaborate with clients and internal teams to manage data breaches and other cybersecurity incidents. Lead and manage projects related to privacy and cybersecurity, ensuring timely and effective execution. Develop and implement strategies for compliance with contractual and legal obligations concerning data security. Draft and review privacy policies, data processing agreements, and other legal documents. Conduct risk assessments and advise clients on mitigating potential legal and regulatory risks. Stay current with evolving data privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations to provide informed legal advice. Requirements: A minimum of 7+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a law firm or in-house legal department. Demonstrated experience in privacy and cybersecurity breach response. Experience advising on state, federal, and international data security incident notification obligations. Proven track record of defending regulatory investigations related to privacy and security. Strong understanding of data privacy and security laws and regulations. Education and Certifications: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active Bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Skills and Competencies: Exceptional project management skills with the ability to handle complex, fast-paced workloads. Strong awareness of data privacy and security laws. Effective and persuasive written and oral communication skills. Ability to interact with technically-skilled individuals and non-technical business team members, distilling complex issues into clear, actionable advice.
