We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented professional to provide expertise in managing day-to-day import and export activities, ensuring adherence to trade compliance laws and regulations, and supporting the MTS Global Trade Compliance program. Your contributions will help preserve MTS’ status as a trusted global importer and exporter while advancing our organizational goals. Key Responsibilities Daily Operations Manage and execute responsibilities in the following areas, leveraging technical expertise: HTS/SchB Product Classification (strong knowledge and experience required) U.S. Customs / BIS CFR Regulations Free Trade Agreement (FTA) analysis and certification (including tariff shift and de minimis, with preference for KORUS/USMCA FTA experience) Import & Export Documentation Export Project Delivery Reviews Export, Re-export, and Deemed Export Controls Country of Origin, Product Valuation, Import & Export Data Recordkeeping Requirements Restricted Party Requirements (e.g., MEU, UVL, EL, SDN) Sanctioned Party List Screening Licensing Determination, Application, and Management Requirements Acting as a liaison with global logistics and freight forwarders Export Classification (ECCN)
Technical Expertise Act as a trusted resource for resolving import and export compliance challenges across the organization.
Problem Solving and Remediation Investigate, analyze, and recommend corrective actions for trade compliance issues.
Policy Development Contribute to the creation of global policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant import/export regulations.
Education and Training Design and deliver training programs to promote understanding and adherence to trade compliance requirements.
Auditing and Reporting Support periodic audits (e.g., ACE reports, 7501 entries) to maintain compliance with trade regulations.
Special Projects Provide assistance with special assignments or projects as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful export project deliveries.
Due Diligence Maintain thoroughness and accuracy throughout all work activities.
Minimum Requirements Education:
Bachelor’s degree Experience:
At least 5 years in trade compliance roles with hands-on import/export responsibilities Preferred Qualifications Advanced expertise in HTS classification and FTA, particularly KORUS In-depth knowledge of import regulations and familiarity with export regulations Proficiency in SAP and GTS (highly desired) Familiarity with Salesforce Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort with ambiguity Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and external partners Up-to-date knowledge of evolving trade compliance requirements Demonstrated ability to manage projects related to export/import activities independently
