Position: Vice President, US Pricing, Contracting, Trade & Government Reporting

The senior leadership position ensures the development and execution of effective BMS pricing strategies that:
Represent the value our products bring to patients and health systems
Sustain the development of new products and innovation
Are competitive with changing market dynamics
Meet sales objectives and bring value to shareholders
Are aligned with Global pricing
The position ensures that trade and distribution strategies for all BMS products are optimally developed and executed, and manages relationships with trade and distribution partners. The position ensures that BMS effectively manages all of its government pricing and contracting obligations.
The position is also responsible for providing deep insights into the economics of our products and payment regulations, and designing and executing contracts that maximize the value of our products. The position interfaces with the SVP for VA&P, BU VA&P EDs, BU Leads, the VP for Payer and Organized Customer Sales, Government Price Reporting, Legal, Global Pricing, Finance, and Enterprise Services. The position reports directly to the SVP, VA&P, and manages teams located in Princeton, NJ and Tampa, FL.
Responsibilities (consistent across US):
Development and execution of pricing strategies that meet stated goals
Development and maintenance of 3-5 year Pricing Strategies for each US BMS product
Participation in, and pricing and contractual support of, ongoing payer and organized customer contract negotiations
Working with Finance to project GTN impact, and ensuring that we deliver on our stated GTN goals
Analyzing potential budgetary impact of proposed payment policy changes and advising on the incorporation of standardized and documented assumptions into each product's LRP
Design and support of innovative contractual approaches that increase access to BMS products, lower GTN, and provide a competitive advantage
Ensuring that probability analyses are performed and communicated prior to entering into innovative, at-risk contracts
Ensuring product trade and distribution strategies are optimally developed and executed
Ensuring Government Price Reporting’s input is obtained during the strategic development of new pricing and contractual options
Ensuring contracts are written in a clear manner that meets all Legal standards
Ensuring alignment of US and Global pricing
Manages key order-to-cash processes
Calculates and reports all government-required price data
Generates sales and rebate forecasts for all payer segments and contracted customers
Provides day-to-day leadership and manages the strategic direction of key functional areas including: Pricing & Contracting Strategy, Trade & Distribution, and Government Programs & Reporting
Translates the externally and internally driven factors that are shaping the pricing and payer landscapes into the strategic imperatives for the team
Maintains customer & pricing databases and is the business owner for core pricing & reimbursement systems
Works closely with Compliance, Legal, Finance, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure continual compliance with evolving regulatory requirements
Candidate Specifications:
Bachelor’s degree plus MBA or health economics degree/experience
Ten years of biopharma industry pricing and market access experience
Five years of leadership experience in Pricing and Contracting across multiple therapeutic areas
Leadership experience in formal government price reporting function across multiple products
Proven ability to both perform in-depth analytical analyses and to communicate these results in a simple, clear, and concise manner to executives
Proven deep understanding of the legal issues associated with pharmaceutical pricing, contracting, and government price reporting
Strong understanding of the gross-to-net financial planning and accounting processes
Five years of payer/organized customer sales and negotiation experience
Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in a matrix organizational environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced clinical degree
Payer or health system provider experience
Legal degree and experience with pharmaceutical contracting and government price reporting
Global pricing experience
Brand or payer marketing experience
