Senior US International Reverse Flow Underwriter
117849 Zurich is seeking a senior level US International Reverse Flow Underwriter to join our International Operations team in our Schaumburg, IL North America Headquarters. We are also open to hiring someone based in another location and the preference is that they are near a Zurich office. The opportunity is to provide US underwriting support for incoming received country (RC) business from non-US producing countries. In this model the US RC underwriter will collaborate with the producing underwriter outside of the US pre-bind and post-bind to ensure the US insurance risk is priced adequately and the policy terms and conditions meets the customer needs. International US received business is ~$650M USD portfolio and the most significant country in the Zurich global network. Given the significant regulatory differences in US, underwriters provide local US insights to the producing country underwriter who will not be as familiar for form, rate, and US market practices. The team is additionally staffed with dedicated underwriting assistants and international specialists. Responsibilities: The US RC underwriter will partner with the producing underwriter for inputs about overall structure, coverage needs, and submission data and ensure we follow US underwriting standards, provide guidance, develop quote proposal(s), and issuance for the US exposure. The US RC underwriter will be responsible to support producing countries for a primary line of business with potential for secondary line(s), both guarantee cost and loss sensitive types of accounts to address seasonality of business. The US RC underwriter will not have market production responsibilities, although some US broker interaction will be required. Additional opportunity for providing insights and education to brokers and underwriters who write business in the US. The US RC underwriter will collaborate with an underwriting assistant and/or international servicing specialist working alongside to support the servicing and processing of the local US policies. Preferred candidates have experience in Large Property, or Auto (including Casualty Large or MM) and willingness to be flexible to shape the outcomes needed by customers and effectively collaborate to partner with producing underwriters less familiar with the US coverage and rate trends, and regulatory considerations. Ideal candidate will be flexible in thinking, enjoy working with different cultures, and an excellent collaborator. Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND Knowledge of Microsoft Office Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business Experience working in a team environment Preferred Qualifications: Technical knowledge of Commercial Lines Underwriting. Experience working Internationally Experience working with Commercial insurance brokers Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong problem solving and analytical skills Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. The starting salary range for this position is $96,300.00 - $157,700.00.
