This opportunity is in the Insurance Underwriting Department: The Insurance Underwriting department offers a culture of empowerment to produce results and resolve clients’ issues. Role Description: In this role as a Regional Underwriting Manager, you will be responsible for underwriting and servicing of Large Casualty accounts for assigned territory. Underwriting accountability includes new business production, renewal retention, account servicing, and broker/insured relationships that lead to underwriting profitability and revenue growth within the assigned underwriting territory. Essential Functions: Creates and delivers a compelling business case for agents/brokers to place multi-line large deductible accounts with Safety National. Underwrites new and renewal multi-line large deductible accounts, for assigned underwriting territory. Reviews all necessary underwriting information including application, loss control reports, annual financial statements, product brochures, loss experience, and claim files to determine acceptability of account. Accepts risks on behalf of SNCC that meet underwriting requirements and declines those risks which are not acceptable based on established underwriting standards, policies, and treaties. Evaluates new and renewal accounts to determine the proper aggregate attachment and limit, retention level, and premium. The evaluation process includes loss trending and development, analysis of large loss history, and subsequent determination of a premium which is commensurate with the exposures presented. Determines viability of placing reinsurance where necessary. Discusses account analysis and recommendations with SVP or VP of the Casualty Underwriting Group and acts within delegated underwriting authority levels. Presents clear and timely professional communications, both internally and externally via phone, e-mail, written correspondence, and face-to-face meetings. Works closely with the Actuarial Unit to determine appropriate pricing approaches. If this role describes you, don’t delay. Apply today! Required Qualifications: 10 or more years of related experience. Experience with large deductible/national account underwriting and production marketing. Proven ability to negotiate positive terms while preserving relationships and building trust, both internally and externally. Effective organizational skills, communication, coaching, and mentoring skills. Demonstrated high performance and achievement. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and writing formulas. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with Customer Relationship Software, preferably Salesforce. Proven success in a leadership role. CPCU, CRIS, and ARM designations, or the willingness to pursue them. Strong data analytics skills and ability to use data to support sales and storytelling. Education: A Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field is preferred.
