The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) supports UCLA's community of educators in engaging in equity-minded and research-based teaching practices in support of diverse learners, advancing instructional innovation and pedagogical research, and celebrating inclusive excellence in teaching. If so, we encourage you to join our team at the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) as the Educational Assessment Analyst (Research Data Analyst 3). The Educational Assessment Analyst position is housed within the UCLA Teaching and Learning Center's (TLC) Assessment of Student and Instructor Experience (ASIE) unit, which spearheads assessment programs and services that engage instructors, departments, and university leadership in the evaluation of student learning, engagement, and belonging as well as capacity building for data-informed transformation of pedagogical practices, curriculum, and academic programs. Data generated by ASIE is leveraged to advance teaching excellence across the campus and enhance the academic experience of UCLA students from the undergraduate to graduate and professional levels. ASIE also drives TLC's self-assessment efforts to measure the effectiveness of programming and document center-wide impact on the UCLA teaching enterprise. Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Survey Research and Program Assessment, the Educational Assessment Analyst plays a key role in supporting the ASIE team's strategic objectives to foster data-informed decision-making, promote evidence-based and equitable pedagogical practices and curricular innovation, and enhance the TLC's effectiveness through ongoing data management. The incumbent plays a pivotal role in optimizing the effectiveness of the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) by overseeing comprehensive data management processes, ensuring the integrity of data organization, archiving, and analysis. Key responsibilities of the Educational Assessment Analyst include heading data processing initiatives, updating online dashboards, and guiding project management efforts to ensure alignment with organizational goals. 2 Yrs of Experience Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience, preferably in university setting. (Required) Experience conducting educational assessment or research using quantitative and qualitative methods, preferably in university setting. (Required) Thorough knowledge in managing, visualizing, and reporting on quantitative and qualitative data. (Required) Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R), qualitative data coding tools (e.g., nVivo), survey software (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey), data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau), and data management software (e.g., Excel, Google sheets). (Required) Familiarity with Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes for Human Subjects Research; ability to manage sensitive data securely within an educational context. (Required) Skills in the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences, fostering productive discussions with colleagues about data management and educational assessment. (Required) Research skills to evaluate alternate solutions and develop well-informed recommendations. (Required) Extensive expertise in statistical analysis and interpretation; ability to create visualizations of data to support dissemination of assessment trends and findings. (Required) Strong expertise in analytical thinking and providing strategic consultation. (Required) Skills in data and project management (i.e. proficiency in managing data and overseeing projects effectively); knowledge of project management platforms (e.g., Asana, Airtable). (Required) Excellent organizational, interpersonal, collaboration, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication skills. (Required) Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail, adaptability in managing multiple projects with changing priorities and competing deadlines, and openness to learning to tools and approaches to the work. (Required) Ability to work on campus with the potential for a hybrid schedule. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

Master's Degree Master's degree in Education, Data Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. (Required)
