Inserso is seeking to hire a Senior Deployment Engineer to provide network engineering services for on-site and remote deployment support of our DHS customer at various sites throughout the USA and at OCONUS offices abroad. Typical deployments include new office setups, network infrastructure upgrades, office/workstation relocations, etc. The Deployment Engineer will work as a member of the Deployment team to implement and monitor the installation of hardware and software including network switches, file & print servers, wireless access points, tape back-up devices, desktop computers, laptops, tablets, printers, and various specialized equipment (cameras, fingerprint scanners, etc.), as well as provide oversight on vendor installations of VOIP systems. This position requires the ability to work both independently or within a team environment, depending on project requirements. The Deployment Engineer position requires up to 75% travel, although historically the average is closer to 50%.
Responsibilities:
To learn and apply knowledge of the customer’s data network environment and voice communications. Perform hardware and software installations as a team member, or as site Deployment team lead. Mentor and train fellow team members. Install/configure and test new network switches, routers, servers, end-user computers, network & local printers, external hard drives, document scanners and other peripheral equipment, as well as operating system software and COTS and GOTS applications. Ensure end-user access to government mainframe applications. Document network configurations and inventories. Utilize ServiceNow to track and report on service desk tickets. Follow standardized operating procedures to ensure compliance with expected configurations of network and desktop devices.
Required Skills/Experience:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass the DHS Employment Eligibility Verification process. Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance or ability to obtain it after start. Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience. 6 years of experience in IT support or related field. 3 years of related practical experience configuring and deploying network switches, F/P servers, Windows OS workstations and varied network and local peripheral devices. Working knowledge and proficiency with Cisco layer 2 & layer 3 switching, HSRP, OSPF routing protocol, WLAN, TCP/IP protocol, NAC, and firewalls. Practical experience configuring & deploying Cisco switches (Layer 3 & Layer 2). General knowledge of MS Windows Enterprise Tools and technologies, such as Active Directory, MS Exchange, and SharePoint. Experience working with Windows OS versions. Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot network incidents and provide a resolution report to management and/or customer. Demonstrate the ability to develop and execute network address plans for IPv4. Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project).
Preferred Skills/Experience:
WLAN / Wi-Fi implementation experience. Experience supporting DHS or other similar federal agencies. Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CCENT, CCNA, A+, Network+, Security+, MSCE, etc.).
Physical and/or Mental Qualifications:
Effectively communicate with customers, stakeholders, and technical specialists. This work requires that an individual ascend/descend a ladder, position themselves to access computer and related equipment connections, and be able to transport objects or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
