SUMMARY AND GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The President and Chief Executive Officer is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and administration of all aspects of the health services activities and other corporate entities to ensure compliance with established objectives and the realization of quality, economical healthcare services and other related lines of business. The Regional President will also provide management advice and consultation to Administrators of the Avera Health facilities within each of the established service regions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Catholic health ministry.
- MHA/MBA/MS in hospital administration, healthcare administration, or equivalent educational experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience in the healthcare field, with at least three years of management experience and a working knowledge of healthcare administration.
- Experience in shared service programs, strategic planning methodologies, and concepts, familiar with the delivery of health services in rural areas.
- Possesses qualities of honesty, integrity, a sense of justice, and sound moral character.
- Willingness to travel.
ABILITIES:
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary; good writing skills beneficial.
- Must be adept at communicating with individuals from neonate to geriatric.
- Ability to comprehend hospital policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Critical thinking skills are essential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate with the governing board in charting the course for the health system in response to community needs.
- Inform and provide recommendations to the Sponsors and Avera Health.
- Recommend and update long-range plans supporting organizational philosophy and objectives.
- Inform and advise trustees regarding trends, problems, and activities in healthcare.
- Respond to community needs for quality health services by monitoring medical activities.
- Coordinate recruitment and retention of medical staff.
- Ensure provision of affordable healthcare services through effective resource management.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Promote integration of health services with the community through effective communication.
- Direct and supervise all health system activities through competent support staff.
- Serve as a liaison between the board, committees, and medical/dental staff.
- Maintain professional affiliations and enhance professional growth.
