Applied’s Off-Road Autonomy Team is looking to hire a Systems Engineer with strong MBSE expertise, and preferably experience with robotics, software, and/or defense applications. In this role, you will create and own the functional, logical, and physical architecture of Applied’s off-road autonomy features, as well as the traceability of the architecture diagrams to other systems engineering artifacts. This is a critical role that will not only shape the technical direction of the project, but also generate the systems engineering artifacts needed to prove the technical maturity of our products for defense, mining, construction, search and rescue applications. At Applied Intuition, you will:
Derive functions from the feature descriptions and customer user journeys, to build, maintain and analyze our functional and logical architecture. Map functional and logical architecture diagrams to physical architecture diagrams. Collaborate with developers to architect and model implementation details regarding our physical architecture, such as mapping of software modules to compute resources, creating interface definitions, signal attributes, etc. Ensure traceability of architecture diagrams to other systems engineering artifacts such as Operational Design Domain (ODD) elements, system and subsystem requirements, test cases, and evidence of test cases implemented in simulation and real-world passing requirements. Collaborate closely with other systems engineers to ensure we have sufficient requirements and test case coverage. We're looking for someone who has:
4+ years of experience involving Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches, methods, and techniques. B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Extensive experience working with SysML and Cameo within the automotive, defense or aerospace industry, creating Activity Diagrams, Block Definition Diagrams (BDDs), Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs), etc. Experience with functional decomposition and allocation, development of requirements, as well as verification and validation such as field testing and/or simulation. Nice to have:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Knowledge of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Experience with development of autonomy software products for automotive, aerospace, or defense applications. Experience with at least one project across its full development cycle. Experience with requirements management and test traceability tools. Knowledge of MIL-STD-882, ISO/PAS 21448, or ISO 26262. Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off.
