Job Description: PRN Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit Join Cleveland Clinic's Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute and become a part of one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world. The J6-1 Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit is part of Cleveland Clinic's Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute and provides care to post-open heart surgery patients and telemetry patients who have undergone innovative and cardiac procedures, such as valve replacement/repair, aneurysm repair, Maze, radiofrequency ablation, pulmonary vein isolation, pacemaker and defibrillator implant/removal and robotic assisted surgery. J6-1 also cares for patients who are actively weaning from ventilator support. A caregiver in this position works variable shifts A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care. Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience. Internal applicants with less than two years' experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval. Will consider military RN experience. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
