Role Overview
As a Privacy Counsel Attorney, you will provide expert guidance on privacy and data protection matters, ensuring compliance with global privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and HIPAA. This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong foundation in privacy law who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working closely with a diverse range of clients.
Key Responsibilities
Advise clients on compliance with international, federal, and state privacy laws and regulations. Draft and negotiate privacy and data security provisions in contracts. Assist clients in developing and implementing data privacy and security policies and practices. Respond to data breach incidents and manage associated regulatory investigations. Conduct privacy risk assessments and audits to identify and address compliance gaps. Stay current on emerging privacy laws, regulations, and trends to provide proactive legal advice.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar. Ideally 8+ years legal experience, with a focus on privacy and data protection. Deep knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and other privacy frameworks. Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills. Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities. CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or similar certification is a plus but not required.
