MTS 2, Software Engineer

Job Duties: Maintain and support the availability of eBay's full-text search and analysis platform, utilizing Elasticsearch and OpenSearch clusters, through multi-region platform deployments. Serve as the technical lead and main contributor for both the control plane and data plane of the platform. For control plane, make sure platform PDMR (provisioning/deployment/monitoring/remediation) readiness for all supported environments, together with platform self-service ability building, DevOps tools building, automation improvement to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency as much as possible. For data plane, make sure platform with high availability, scalability and security. Participate in ElasticSearch and OpenSearch core, design and implement blueprints for Elasticsearch and OpenSearch deployments, all eco-systems, and consider availability, scalability, security and performance requirements.

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. Experience with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch core (3 years).

2. Experience with ELKB (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana and Beats) technical stack (3 years).

3. Experience with OpenSearch technical stack and community (3 years).

4. Experience designing and developing platform control plane considering efficiency and self-service ability using Java and Python (3 years).

5. Experience designing and developing platform data plane considering different environment requirement (3 years).

6. Experience with Kubernetes technology stack, designing and developing platform with deployment on Kubernates (3 years).

7. Experience designing and developing high availability system considering regions, available zones, data awareness and auto alerting/diagnostic/remediation abilities (3 years).

8. Experience designing and developing auto-scaling and security system (3 years).

9. Experience with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch cluster issue troubleshooting and performance tuning (3 years).

10. Experience with automation and workflow engines like Airflow (3 years).

Salary: $172,931.00-234,850.00per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
