Business Analyst/Quality Assurance Analyst
We’re seeking a Business Analyst (Product Owner)/Quality Assurance Analyst to be a part of our development team to develop requirements for, and perform Quality Assurance testing on, new and existing software applications. As a team member, you will make an impact on the future of legislative engagement in the Colorado community by creating and improving the functionality of new and existing software applications and the Colorado Legislature’s website. Within this unique organization you will experience challenging work while directly contributing to the betterment of Colorado. The Colorado Legislature has internal and public facing applications and its official website built using technologies such as Java Spring, Ruby on Rails, React, HCL Notes, etc. requiring ongoing development work. This is a full-time, salaried state employment, onsite position with work from home options. You must be authorized to work in the US. Persons seeking contract positions or visa sponsorship need not apply. Responsibilities
Your tasks and responsibilities Develop a thorough, working knowledge of legislative applications, systems, and user needs. Learn to develop and create well written user stories, acceptance criteria, and test plans. Develop proficiency with agile processes and methodologies. Effectively communicate ideas and requirements with developers, key stakeholders, and management. Advocate for, and build rapport with, users - proposing and vetting ideas, solutions for their benefit. Conduct industry research and stay up-to-date on best practices, trends, and emerging technologies. Develop proficiency with QA processes making sure changes are implemented as intended. Do user research, surveys, usability studies, etc. translating findings into mockups, workflow diagrams, etc. Documentation, troubleshooting, and providing application support. Qualifications
Technical Skills/Knowledge you possess Strong understanding of legislative business rules, processes, and procedures. Technical aptitude and interest for working with software applications. Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to present work effectively. Effective and concise writing skills adapted to the audience. Keen listening, comprehension, deduction, and retention of essential details and nuances. Intentional focus on optimizing customer experience. The salary range is $60,000-$85,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes Public Employees Retirement Association plans; health and dental insurance; short-term disability; paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave; and optional FSA and HSA accounts. Our generous and flexible leave policies include a minimum of 3 weeks of annual leave, 10 annual paid holidays, sick leave, flexible work schedules during the legislative interim, and a generous compensation time policy.
