The VP of Development will lead the advancement of utility-scale solar projects, focusing on applying commercial expertise and fostering relationships with local government officials to navigate permitting efficiently. This role is essential for identifying, evaluating, and securing solar development opportunities, ensuring they align with company goals and regulatory standards. Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end development of utility-scale solar projects, including site identification, land acquisition, permitting, interconnection, and stakeholder engagement, from inception through commercial operation. Negotiate and collaborate with landowners, off-takers, suppliers, and strategic partners to optimize project economics and achieve successful project execution. Develop and implement strategies to navigate regulatory environments, managing zoning, permitting, environmental assessments, and local government requirements. Conduct market analysis and due diligence to identify new opportunities, assess project feasibility, mitigate risks, and align project execution with company goals. Lead a team of project developers and managers to maintain a strong competitive advantage. Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, environmental science, or a related field. Minimum of 9–12 years of proven experience in utility-scale solar project development or a similar field. In-depth understanding of regulatory and permitting processes for utility-scale solar projects, especially at the local government level. Willingness and flexibility to travel to project sites, meetings, and industry events as needed. Seniority level
