The firm’s growing IP team requires a mid-level to senior-level associate or patent agent to provide patent counseling, portfolio management, and strategic IP advice. The role offers a unique opportunity to work on complex and cutting-edge IP matters while contributing to the firm's commitment to client success and innovation. Duties: Counsel clients on intellectual property strategy and best practices in patent law. Lead patent prosecution activities, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications. Manage and prosecute a global patent portfolio, coordinating with foreign counsel for international filings. Conduct in-depth IP due diligence, including patentability assessments, freedom-to-operate analyses, and infringement or invalidity opinions. Collaborate with inventors, technical experts, and patent portfolio managers to develop strategic solutions for clients. Provide detailed and actionable advice on patent rights, and IP protection strategies. Advise clients on licensing opportunities, enforcement strategies, and IP risk management. Requirements: A Ph.D. or MS in a biological science discipline (e.g., molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, biotechnology). At least 4+ years of experience in IP law, including patent prosecution and portfolio management. Active registration with the USPTO. Proven experience handling complex patent matters, including counseling, prosecution, and due diligence. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality results. Education: A Ph.D. or MS in Biology, Biotechnology, or related scientific field is required. Certifications: USPTO Registration is required. Skills: Expertise in patent prosecution, particularly in the biotechnology or biology space. Strong technical writing and analytical skills. Ability to provide clear and concise legal and scientific guidance to clients. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about IP issues.
