Job Summary Western Governors University is hiring a Data Engineering Manager to join our team onsite in Salt Lake City, Utah . This person will lead a team of data engineers and drive successful project delivery. Combining strong leadership with technical acumen, this role focuses on fostering a collaborative team culture, optimizing delivery pipelines, and maintaining accountability through effective project management tools and Agile methodologies. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, ensuring clear goals and resources for success. Project Planning & Execution: Manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables using tools like burndown/burnup charts. Promote Agile workflows for on-time, high-quality project delivery. Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, aligning priorities and communicating progress effectively. Technical Oversight: Guide technical decision-making to ensure data quality, scalability, and best practices. Operational Excellence: Enforce coding standards, peer reviews, and automation for reliable, efficient operations. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred. Experience: 7 years in data engineering, 3 years in management. Skills: Agile methodologies, project tracking, and tools like AWS, SQL, Python, Databricks. Abilities: Proven ability to lead teams, deliver projects, and balance technical and managerial responsibilities. LI-SC D&I The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
