The AIML Search and Foundation Model Platform team is pioneering the next generation of search, AI and machine learning. Our platform forms the core of Apple Intelligence, supporting critical products and services across Apple, including Music, App Store, TV, News, Spotlight, Safari, Siri, and many more exciting products in the pipeline. Each day, we process millions of user queries with exceptional performance, fully leveraging our advanced hardware to deliver seamless user experiences. As part of this team, you’ll engage with one of the most sophisticated computing environments in the world, handling millions of transactions per second. You’ll actively contribute to building the developer platform and optimizing the developer experience for our search and foundation model platform, and making it more flexible, scalable and cost efficient, as it adapts to high demand user needs, fast growing traffic, and rapidly evolving search and AI technologies across Apple's global ecosystem. Description As the Developer Experience Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of highly-skilled engineers building the developer platform, which is responsible for code management, functional testing, performance testing, release management and the underlying production infrastructure, for Apple’s search and foundation model platform. You’ll manage the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of this team and be responsible for optimizing developer experience. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, including product teams, platforms teams, SRE teams and stakeholders, to deliver innovative, robust, and efficient solutions that support Apple’s vision of intelligent search across its ecosystem of products. You’ll be responsible for fostering a collaborative and innovative environment while ensuring the team is aligned with the broader technical vision and business goals. Your team will focus on designing, building and operating the platform for developers and optimizing their experience to enable rapid product iteration and innovation, while maintaining reliability and scalability at every level. Your true passion on developer experience and infrastructure will be critical to the success of this role. Minimum Qualifications Proven engineering leadership experience in large scale distributed sytem or a related field Experience managing and growing engineering teams, providing mentorship, career development, and technical guidance Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and manage relationships with stakeholders Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with short-term project execution and team priorities 10 year experience on large scale distributed system design, operation and optimization and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, etc.) Strong technical skills with an ability to dive deep into architectural challenges when needed BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience Key Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Experience with engineering productivity related technologies (release infrastructure, testing infrastructure, etc) Experience with search infrastructure or machine learning infrastructure Experience with cluster management and optimization Education & Experience Additional Requirements Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $190,700 and $329,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
