Job Highlights: SSM Health is hiring for a Certified Hand Therapist. We are interested in hiring an Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist that has achieved this certification, has a kind and positive outlook that will fit into our mission, and a dedication to excellence when it comes to the care of all patients. This is a 32 hour/week position. Hours can be flexible. No weekends. We are open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. SSM Health is Patient focused. We value 1:1 evidenced based excellent care of patients and work to keep a strong therapeutic alliance by providing compassionate care in great facilities with strong support from our providers and leadership. You will join another Certified Hand Therapist and Occupational in our Hand Clinic which is part of our large outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation clinic with 23 PT’s and 8 LAT’s. A great team to co-treat with when necessary, and an abundance of knowledge and techniques to share and learn from. Opportunities for Clinical ladder program and Continuing Education funds are available. We enjoy working closely with our Orthopedic Surgeons who’s offices are just down the hall from our clinic. #SSM
Job Summary: Performs initial evaluations, develops treatment plans and sets appropriate goals to assist patients in achieving their maximum functional level.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Administers and evaluates tests of musculoskeletal, neurological and physiological responses to determine functioning. Develops appropriate treatment plans based on an patient evaluation. Designs and fabricates orthotics and adaptive equipment. Initiates and performs treatments through the use of exercise, manual therapy, physical agents and rehabilitation. Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy, or related area as required to obtain licensure in state of practice
EXPERIENCE Three years' experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Constant standing. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more). Frequent walking, reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry. Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving patients. Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors. Occasional driving. Rare crawling.
