Qualcomm seeks an experienced and visionary

Principal Enterprise Data Architect

to play a pivotal role in defining and executing our data architecture strategy. This position is crucial for ensuring that our data infrastructure is scalable, secure, and optimally aligned with our business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of data architecture principles, data modeling, and the integration of emerging technologies into a cohesive data ecosystem that supports innovation, operational excellence, and strategic insights. Strong executive presence and the ability to effectively collaborate with business stakeholders are essential for success in this role.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead the development and implementation of Qualcomm’s enterprise data architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and technology capabilities.

Design and manage robust, scalable data models and architectures to support the evolving needs of the business, focusing on efficiency, quality, and security.

Design the Master Data Management strategy that will help create a common view of master data and provide a centralized mechanism for its aggregation, cleansing, transformation, augmentation, validation, and syndication.

Collaborate with IT leadership, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data needs, identify gaps in our current architecture, and propose solutions that enhance data accessibility, reliability, and scalability.

Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, effectively communicating the value and impact of data architecture initiatives on business outcomes.

Guide the selection and integration of advanced data management platforms and tools (e.g., data lakes, data warehouses, ETL tools) to build a state-of-the-art data ecosystem.

Define and implement data governance and quality standards, processes, and frameworks to ensure data integrity, compliance, and security across the enterprise.

Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data architecture, recommending innovative solutions that can provide Qualcomm with a competitive edge.

Mentor and lead teams of data engineers and architects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and technical excellence.

Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of Qualcomm’s data architectures, standards, systems, and processes for internal and external stakeholders.

Partner with business leaders to understand their strategic objectives and translate them into actionable data architecture roadmaps that enable data-driven decision making.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.

At least 12 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data strategy roles, with a proven track record of leading large-scale data architecture initiatives leveraging modern frameworks.

5+ years of experience as an Enterprise Data Architect leading vision, strategy and roadmap.

Expertise in a broad range of data management technologies and platforms (e.g., SQL/NoSQL databases, Hadoop, Spark, cloud-based data solutions like AWS, GCP, Azure).

Proficient in data modeling tools and methodologies, with a strong understanding of both structured and unstructured data environments.

Demonstrated experience with data governance, data quality management, master data management and data security practices.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical challenges into actionable solutions.

Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of building consensus across diverse teams and stakeholders.

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership and business stakeholders, translating technical concepts into business-relevant insights.

Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability of driving clarity from ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.

Certifications or advanced training in data architecture, data engineering, or related fields.

AWS Solutions Architect Professional Certification.

AWS Data Engineer Associate Certification.

AWS Machine Learning Specialty Certification.

ArchiMate 3 Practitioner Certification.

Experience with machine learning models and AI-driven analytics.

Familiarity with industry-specific data standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) that impact data architecture and governance.

Demonstrated ability to innovate and drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies in data architecture and management.

Strong business acumen and the ability to align data architecture strategies with overall business objectives.

Semiconductor and SaaS industry experience a plus.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field is required.

A Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields is strongly preferred.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$168,400.00 - $252,600.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
