It has steadily expanded its capabilities, and now provides more comprehensive services to those with complex conditions closer to their home. A Magnet Recognized Facility, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Grapevine is a 302-bed hospital offering advanced medical services for heart and vascular, women’s health, diagnostic imaging, trauma, orthopedics, spine, digestive diseases, oncology, neurology, ENT, pain management, weight loss and intensive and emergency care. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center– Grapevine has a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and is the only Level II Trauma Center in Northeast Tarrant County. Additionally, the facility is an accredited Cycle IV Chest Pain Center, Primary Stroke Center and accredited in weight loss surgery, oncology, etc. The hospital was recognized by U.S. News & World Report in its 2021-2022 “Best Hospitals” ratings as high performing in the common procedures and conditions category for stroke, heart failure, kidney failure and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). It was also recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the only Tarrant County hospital, and one of only two hospitals in the Dallas Fort Worth region, rated High Performing, the highest-possible rating for Best Hospitals for Maternity for 2021-2022. Role Description Reporting to President of BSWH Central and West Regions, the President of Baylor Scott and White Medical Center – Grapevine is responsible for planning, directing, and leading the operations of the Grapevine campus. He/she participates with the CEO and other top leadership to develop current and long-range strategies, priorities, and policies for BSWH and the campus. He/she develops the operational goals to meet BSWH business priorities, including implementing short and long-term financial and operational objectives, establishing performance targets and metrics, and reviewing progress and results. The President ensures appropriate governance and controls, and formulates and administers policies. He/she guides changes needed to reach financial goals and ensures the organization operates subject to all applicable regulatory requirements and controls. The President will represent the organization to major external authorities, constituencies, and acts as spokesperson for BSWH. He/she may oversee many business units or functional areas directly. The President is responsible for enhancing the image and delivering healthcare value to BSWH stakeholders, patients, and communities served. In addition to strategic leadership of the Grapevine campus, the President participates in broader strategy development and implementation with senior leadership. The President has primary accountability for business unit financial management, talent management, and input on major resource decisions. He/she translates and cascades corporate strategies and objectives to subordinate positions, and leads and monitors business performance. Essential Functions - The President of BSWMC-Grapevine has overall operational responsibility and oversight for the facility and market. The President will set clear strategies and performance expectations in alignment with BSWH system goals. - The President will work collaboratively with physician and administrative leadership to ensure the effective operation and future growth of BSWMC-Grapevine and affiliated clinics. - The President will work closely with Board Members to ensure they are informed of important decisions. - The President will communicate the needs of the entity/market patients and staff to any decision-making groups within the BSWH System and/or regulatory bodies when those decisions affect these groups. - The President functions as the “face” of the hospital to the community, and as such will actively participate in professional, civic, educational and service organizations as a representative of BSWMC-Grapevine. - The President will pursue market and competitive knowledge, provide insight on potential growth opportunities for BSWMC-Grapevine and assist in the oversight of major capital projects. - The President will seek avenues for collaboration with organizations delivering healthcare to Grapevine and surrounding market, especially in times of public health crisis. Collaboration will include residency programs, county health agencies, and competing health systems when required. - The President will discharge duties with an unwavering commitment to BSWMC-Grapevine and Baylor Scott & White Health's values, serving as a role model in the hospital and community. - The President is responsible for creating an environment that fosters employee and physician satisfaction, the delivery of safe and high quality care, and financial and operational efficiencies. - The President will stay abreast of local and national healthcare trends and issues, identifying and responding to those that may affect BSWMC-Grapevine. - The President will perform other position-appropriate duties as required. Preferred Candidate Profile - Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related field is required. Master’s Degree is highly preferred. - At least seven years of healthcare operations management or a related field is required, with experience as a senior operational leader in a large, complex, multi-site healthcare system preferred. - The ideal candidate will bring a record of accomplishment in an integrated health system known for high patient safety and quality outcomes. - Candidates should have functioned as a hospital President or senior operations executive within a facility that is at least of similar size and scope as BSWMC-Grapevine. - Track record of success in a highly competitive market. - Experience will ideally include oversight of capital projects and successful growth initiatives. - Candidates should have the ability to think “outside the box” in developing solutions for revenue rejuvenation and controlling expenses. - Involvement in organizations such as Texas Hospital Association and American Hospital Association is a plus. - History of deep community involvement, visibility and leadership is required. - The President will possess sound judgment in making decisions on complicated matters affecting people, programs, finances and other priorities. He/she will lead by example their commitment to quality, patient safety, and cost effective delivery of services. - The President will be an even-keeled leader who understand and works effectively with multiple stakeholders to manage complex activities under difficult time constraints and other pressures. - The President will embrace diversity and seek ways to strengthen this at BSWMC-Grapevine. - Excellent communication skills are required, including the ability to effectively convey messages in all settings from one-on-one to community events. - The President will operate with the highest personal and professional integrity, displaying mutual respect for all, and with an obvious commitment to leading in a manner consistent with BSWH roots as a Christian ministry of healing. Goals & Objectives Performance goals and objectives for the SVP over the first 24 months include: - Develop strong working relationships and establish credibility with key stakeholders of BSWMC-Grapevine; this will include staff, physicians, and community leaders, as well as the BSWMC-Grapevine Advisory Board and the BSWH North Texas Operating Board. - Promote partnership and collaboration across BSWMC-Grapevine. - Continue to create positive and motivating atmosphere among staff and leadership as the organization continues to adapt to changes driven by COVID. - Promote a culture that takes exceptional care of each patient, while holding leadership team accountable to attain top tier patient satisfaction metrics. - Expand market presence and evaluate service line expansions/additions. - Fully embrace talent management and succession planning. - Meet benchmarks for safety and quality outcomes. - Meet benchmarks for employee engagement.
