JOB PURPOSE: General Managers manage the restaurant on a day-to-day basis. Their focus is on both the front of house and back of house operations, which consist of managing the brand, ensuring service meets the brand, managing inventories, and controlling costs as it relates to product and labor to ensure budgets are met. Additionally, the senior manager is responsible for creating a workplace environment that fosters Din Tai Fung’s core values of Smile, Synergy, Modesty, Integrity, Learning, and Excellence. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Arriving to work on time to set a positive example for employees Attending Front of House and Back of House Daily Camera Meetings Managing the Front of House and Back of House Management Team Ensuring restaurant is staffed and set up for business ensuring not to exceed labor budget Checking all server sections and kitchen departments for preparedness Ensuring opening/closing, Daily Check Lists are completed Ensuring restaurant is clean outside and inside of any debris Monitoring the inventory process and ensuring the accuracy of inventory Ensuring server stations are stocked with product and supplies Able to communicate in a manner that achieves positive results Completing schedules and posting by date established Performing interview process and hiring qualified staff Ensuring that all staff complete the appropriate paperwork correctly Disciplining and encouraging employees when necessary Providing training in all facets of the Front of House and Back of House operations Completing documentation accurately and in a timely manner Achieving budgeted sales and profit by managing costs and effectively running the restaurant Managing costs Opening and closing the restaurant(s) Reading, understanding, following, and enforcing the Employee Handbook, Training Guide, and Specific Departmental Standard Operating Procedures Manual including POS operations. Ensuring compliance with licensing and hygiene, health, and safety legislation Familiar with all products provided on menus Assisting staff when necessary in a positive and encouraging manner SYSTEMS: Responsible for timely inventory counts in accordance with the established schedule Ensures orders are made accurately (accurate pars, correct nightly inventory counts) Manages the ordering of office supplies to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained Builds and maintains positive relationships with vendors and sales representatives to ensure that the restaurant receives the best possible products and services Manages the budget FOH restaurant’s budget Analyzes monthly financial results and annual budgets to assess and improve profitability Assists with the implementation and administration of the approved financial budget, and ensures that budget goals are met Plan, coordinate, and oversee the catering and banquet process, including service Manage the POS system to ensure that it is functioning properly and that all transactions are recorded accurately Manage cash handling procedures and sales reports to ensure that they are in compliance with company policy Monitor and adhere to control systems to minimize the risk of theft Follow all established accounting procedures JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR GENERAL MANAGER: 8+ years of relevant experience or education Flexible Work Schedule Managers are required to work a minimum of 5 days per week and 10 hours per day Schedule may vary based on business demands. Proficient in using email, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office Positive and professional attitude Strong communication and ability to work cohesively with all levels of management, all departments, and all co-workers in a team Ability to stand for long periods of time Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision, attention to detail, and speed Note: This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying the position.
