Monday- Friday 830am-5pm

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Neurological Surgery Clinic at UW Medical Center - Montlake is an international leader and pioneer in the care and treatment of patients with diseases and disorders of the brain, spine and peripheral nerves.

We take a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to complex neurosurgical problems such as tumors, degenerative disease, vascular lesions, epilepsy, spinal anomalies, peripheral nerve disorders, chronic pain and spasticity, movement disorders and developmental defects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Review and prioritize incoming referrals from multiple sources using their knowledge of each physician’s specialized skill set

Triage incoming referrals to assure the appropriate specialist will be reviewing referrals

Handle intake of each referral requests, ensuring complete information is received and entered into the electronic medical record system in a timely manner

Coordinates appointments for the patient at the appropriate facility and assists with urgent insurance authorization or financial assistance

Manage and resolve a high volume of phone inquiries and messages

Review appointment follow-up requirements and expectations with patients. Educate them to ensure adequate understanding of the purpose of each appointment and follow-up recommendations

Offer financial assistance to self-pay and underinsured patients

Serve as a primary program contact to other departments, patients, providers outside facilities

QUALIFICATIONS

High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty

Three years of Patient Support Service experience OR

An equivalent combination of education/experience
