Database Administrator
Seeking a Database Administrator to join our AWESOME Information Technology department. This position will lead, plan, implement, and maintain the database and intranet environments for OWASA.
Key responsibilities:
Works with OWASA business units to identify and implement business process improvements, predictive reporting capabilities, and leverage future and existing technology investments for the betterment of the organization.
Develops and maintains a methodology for monitoring database performance and growth; test and implement upgrades; communicate with vendors and third-party support; and enterprise application support including billing, financial and CMMS system; develop documentation and end-user trainings; attending training, conferences and user groups to achieve and maintain expertise in areas of assigned technical responsibility; developing and maintaining custom ad hoc reporting for all databases; creating and managing cryptographic keys, creating and managing PowerShell scripts or SQL Server Integration Services packages, programming against vendor APIs, etc. developing and maintaining appropriate documentation for processes and functions related to areas of technical responsibility; collaborating with various staff; providing IT support; and conducting business analyses.
Tests and implements project updates for infrastructure software and business applications by verifying platform compatibilities; determining business application and relevance; creating test environments; running through upgrade procedures; ensuring upgrade success; and coordinating end user upgrade testing.
Conducts business analyses and requirement gathering by interviewing business owners; distinguishing between technical and personnel aspect of solution; determining business needs; identifying information technology solutions to business problems; developing scripts, packages, reports, and other database tools; testing solutions; and verifying success.
Establishes and maintains monitoring and maintenance solutions by preparing and maintaining monitoring and reporting solutions for databases; setting up monitoring programs; managing disk space; and monitoring database growth.
Manages vendors and external support by handling all phone calls and email correspondence, recording, tracking, and resolving issues, and maintaining strong vendor relationships.
Research, tests, and implements technologies by researching and purchasing new technologies as needed; cooperating with vendors; ensuring proper implementation of technologies; and remaining abreast of industry technologies.
Provides end user support by providing tier 2 support for database applications; responding to assigned help desk tickets; and training end users.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Position is not eligible for hybrid work schedule.
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in computer science (or relevant field of study) plus 4 years’ experience in database and intranet environments or an equivalent combination education and experience.
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server on Server Core.
Advanced knowledge of Data warehousing technics and best practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex data sets.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Proven ability to work independently, manage projects, and meet deadlines.

Salary Range is $87,678 - $131,517
