Duties and Responsibilities

Summary Loyola University Chicago Advancement Operations and Campaign Planning seeks a Salesforce Developer to serve as a key member of the Information Services and Reporting (ISR) team. The Salesforce Developer reports to the Salesforce Administrator and serves as the technical translator of key internal systems including Kindsight ascend and Marketing Cloud. The developer possesses deep technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills and will work closely with ISR and ITS personnel to design, develop, and deploy various system enhancements and procedures supporting key Advancement fundraising deliverables.

This position is based in our Chicago (Lewis Towers) office, with the opportunity to work from home in the greater Chicago area. On occasion, an in-office presence in the Lewis Towers office may be required.

Salesforce Technical Support ( 65%)

Lead design, architect, and document technical solutions in alignment with key business objectives. Identify gaps and make recommendations to inform future practice. Develop solutions within the Salesforce Platform to support critical business functions through configuration and development. Leverage Salesforce's out-of-the-box functionality to appropriately identify opportunities for customization. Collaborate with other product teams to integrate data and functionality to advance the division's strategic vision. Participate in the full software development life cycle: technical design, development, testing, deployment, and production solution. Understand and use Salesforce APIs to integrate with external systems and data. Participate in new initiatives/project discussions with business and develop technical solutions based on discussions. Proactively engage and collaborate with appropriate technology partners to implement enhancements and improvements that solve business problems. Provide daily support and maintenance of an internal Salesforce Data Warehouse and conduct long-term improvements to operations. Provide system administration support for the Salesforce environment, especially related to integrations, customized applications, user permissions, security settings, custom objects, and workflows. Assist business users during UAT, troubleshooting, and resolving implementation and integration issues. Own technical and functional specifications and maintain documentation. Communicate system features and enhancements, such as release notes, to the user community on a recurring basis. Establish and maintain best-practice standards on documentation and code structures. Marketing Cloud Administration (30%)

Serve as the Marketing Cloud administrator and technical lead supporting email marketing activities as defined by Annual Giving and Digital Engagement personnel. Provides access and manages permission sets and roles accordingly within Marketing Cloud. Works with Advancement stakeholders on data validation, integration, and acceptance testing as needed. Strategizes on efficient data extraction to achieve division-wide goals. Provides technical support including HTML, CSS, AMPscript, and SQL when necessary.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience Minimum Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. 5+ years of experience as a Salesforce Administrator preferably in a Higher Education setting. 3+ years of experience in Salesforce Lightning, APEX programming, and SOQL is required. 3+ years of experience with HTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Qualifications Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. 5+ years of experience as a Salesforce Developer preferably in a higher education setting. 3+ years of experience in Salesforce Lightning, APEX programming, and SOQL is required. 3+ years of experience with HTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript. Experience developing integrated solutions using MS Tools, Salesforce.com APIs, and 3rd party APIs and webhooks. Experience with dimensional modeling and building or expanding a data warehouse preferred. Experience with SSIS, SSAS, and Oracle databases is required. Experience working in Salesforce and Marketing Cloud is required, in Kindsight ascend is preferred. Hands-on experience with customization (Apex Triggers, Classes & Visual Force), configuration (Formulas, Workflows, Approval processes, Custom objects and fields, Sharing Rules, Page layouts, Record types, Permission Sets, Reports, and Dashboards). Knowledge and exposure to other tools and concepts like Jira, Confluence, GitHub, relational SQL and NoSQL databases, and object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, R, and Scala required. Proven experience in specification gathering and business analysis with Advancement subject-matter experts, serving as an expert translator in the interpretation and presentation of analyses to inform business processes. Strong practical deployment knowledge of Salesforce configurations.

Ability to be flexible and meet deadlines by handling shifting priorities and multiple tasks effectively. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of business requests and technology needs and translate those needs into solutions for colleagues across the division. Ability to quickly learn and understand new technical systems. Accuracy and attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment are essential. Advocates for needed access, permissions, and documentation from central IT. Elicits and documents requirements from stakeholders. Engages in the Advancement Services and fundraising community (Involvement in AASP, APRA, CASE). Experience participating in a team-driven, deadline-oriented environment using project management tools and agile methodologies. Knowledge of the CASE Global Reporting Standards. Willingness and aptitude to work with ambiguity.

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses Certifications such as Salesforce Administrator I & II, Salesforce Platform App Builder, and Platform Developer I & II are preferred and demonstrate Salesforce proficiency.
