Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking to hire a Software Engineer with a desire to develop software applications and participate in the entire software development life cycle . This position will move to the L3Harris Herndon, VA location by approximately July 2025.
Essential Functions:
Lead/participate in the entire software development life cycle including software design, implementation, code reviews, integration and debugging for new products and existing ones.
Design and develop software utilizing C, Python, POSIX multi-tasking. Web application, AI/ML a plus
Experience debugging Embedded platforms from development through production
Experience with Linux and RTOS
Unit testing experience for Embedded C using modern technologies
DevOps and CI/CD experience
Work closely with System and test engineers throughout the software design/development life cycle
Document software design and participate in design and code reviews
Analyze results from simulation or real data to identify root causes and trends
Perform software/hardware integration during software development and unit testing
Use inter process communication and multi-threaded programming
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 6-9 years of experience or Master’s degree 4 - 7 years of experience in Computer Science or other related technical discipline. In lieu of degree, 10-13 years of software experience.
Active Secret Level Security Clearance
6 to 9 years of professional C/C++ software development experience
6 to 9 years of professional Python development
Education and/or background in satellite communications
C++ Unit test experience
Experience with UML documentation (sequence diagrams)
Experience with Linux systems
TCP/IP network programming; serial protocols; packet processing
Preferred Additional Skills:
Agile Software Development Experience
Experience with DevOps or DevSecOps
Strong problem-solving and software debugging skills
Ability to multitask across multiple projects/initiatives
Familiarity with configuration management processes and tools
Familiar with cryptography algorithms: AES, key management
FPGA VHDL
RTOS
Board support package development
TS/SCI eligible
In compliance with the equal pay act, the salary range for this role in $129,500.00 - $240,500.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
