This is a hybrid role that requires you to sit in our Boston Headquarters.

Who We Are:

The Global Supplier technology team is responsible for building the scalable platforms for the supplier ecosystem in Wayfair. It starts with establishment of supplier entities, their catalog journey, advertisement, pricing & order management. This platform provides all necessary accelerants for supplier business growth like supplier ads, business insights & recommendations. We build scalable platforms to meet the demands of customers and suppliers alike.

This position is under the Catalog Submissions Team that develops and maintains cutting-edge applications and APIs that empower suppliers worldwide to effortlessly and efficiently create and manage high-quality product listings for the Wayfair storefront, driving their success in the digital marketplace.

What You'll Do:

Design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade experiences to delight customers.

Design APIs, consume and produce data, and develop backend applications to support the Wayfair Supplier Platform using Java, Python, SQL, or related technologies.

Build and maintain frontend applications for global suppliers using JavaScript and React.

Conduct high-quality reviews for both code and technical designs to ensure reliability and maintainability.

Implement and maintain monitoring solutions using tools like DataDog to ensure visibility into the technical and operational health of the platform.

Work closely with product managers, experience designers, and other team members to understand problems and convert product requirements into technical solutions.

Define test plans, execute unit testing, and ensure successful deployment of applications.

Use tools like Jenkins, Hudson, Control-M, or Puppet for deploying application code into server environments.

Develop and optimize SQL/No SQL databases, including designing queries, triggers, and stored procedures, as well as tuning performance.

Work with GraphQL or ETL processes for data manipulation and transfer.

Create scripts using Python, Shell for process automation.

Utilize infrastructure automation tools like Terraform, Packer, or similar technologies for system setup and configuration.

We Are a Match Because You Have:

3+ years of experience in backend software engineering using object oriented language and preferably Java and Python

Experience working with relational and non-relational databases

Experience working with event-driven architectures, DDD, and TDD

Experience and desire to work in an agile environment

Analytical mindset and passion for solving business problems with technology

Extensive experience as a full stack engineer.

Mastery of some flavor of modern frontend frameworks and technologies like React, Redux, etc

Experience in Big Data technologies like Apache Kafka/Apache spark/Nosql databases

Preferred experience in the CI/CD tools/platforms like Buildkite/Docker/Kubernetes.

Experience with

Cloud Native architecture platforms like Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.

Experience in system monitoring using tools like DataDog etc.

Experience in development and technical design of frontend applications from start to finish

Understanding of functional programming and javascript best practices

Experience and deep understanding of atomic design (reusable components)

Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders alike.

Excellent documentation skills to write technical specifications.

Prefer a Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems/Management, Information Technology, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a directly related field plus three (3) years software engineering experience. Will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems/Management, Information Technology, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a directly related field and five(5) years of described experience in lieu of a Master’s degree and five (3) years of experience.
