Job Description:
Job Summary The LSU Law Center seeks to hire a faculty member to develop, implement, teach and serve as director for our new Low Income Taxpayer Clinic “LITC”. This position is a twelve-month faculty appointment on the Law Center’s Professional Practice faculty track.
Responsibilities:
(50%) Teach a Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic and other courses as determined by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Assistant Dean of Experiential Education.
(25%) Maintain active engagement in the national clinical legal education community and the state and local Bar Associations related to professional interests and expertise.
(20%) Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities commensurate with rank.
(5%) Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: Juris Doctor (or international equivalent) required. Three years of relevant teaching and scholarship preferred.
Preferred Requirements: Licensed to practice (and in good standing) in a U.S. jurisdiction and be admitted to practice as an attorney (or eligible to be admitted to practice) before the U.S. Tax Court.
Course Description: The LITC will be a new offering in our robust clinical program and will serve low-income taxpayers in a variety of disputes with the Internal Revenue Service. Low Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITC) assist low-income individuals who have a tax dispute with the IRS, and provide education and outreach to individuals who speak English as a second language (ESL).
