Modern Family Law, a boutique law firm which specializes in Family Law, is looking for a compassionate, innovative, and respected Chief of Staff to support and drive the strategic vision and ambition of the Firm’s CEO. Modern Family Law offers dynamic compensation, a wide array of benefit selections, and a culture built on family. The Chief of Staff (CoS) will serve as a strategic advisor and right-hand partner to the CEO and a collaborator with the Firm’s Executive Committee. This role is designed to enhance the CEO's effectiveness by ensuring alignment and execution of the firm's strategic priorities, managing key projects, and overseeing critical internal and external communications. The CoS will be involved in high-level decision-making, operational efficiency, and providing support across various departments within the firm. This position requires a dynamic, proactive, and results-driven professional who can work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Additionally, this role requires the following: Strategic Support & Project Management Collaborate with the CEO to develop and execute strategic initiatives aligned with the Firm’s goals. Oversee and manage key projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope, including cross-departmental collaboration. Prioritize and drive the CEO’s initiatives and decisions, tracking process, and resolving issues that arise. Collaborate with the Firm’s Director of People and Culture on recruiting initiatives to locate top talent and maintain Firm culture to meet with the strategic objectives. Operational Efficiency & Leadership Ensure smooth day-to-day operations by managing the CEO’s calendar, prioritizing meetings and tasks, and filtering requests based on strategic or operational importance. Act as a liaison between the CEO and the Firm’s leadership team, ensuring effective communication and the alignment of key priorities. With the support of the Director of People & Culture, manage internal Firm communications, including emails, reports, and presentations, to ensure clarity and consistency in messaging. In collaboration with the Firm’s Chief Financial Officer and Director of Business Operations, analyze Firm performance metrics, helping the CEO make data-driven decisions on operational improvements. Client & Stakeholder Engagement Represent the CEO in meetings with internal and external partners as needed, conveying CEO’s vision and maintaining relationships. Assist with the preparation for key meetings, conferences, and speaking engagements ensuring the CEO is prepared with necessary materials. Executive Team Support Partner with senior leadership and functional heads to implement Firm-wide initiatives and track progress. Organize and facilitate high-level leadership meetings, ensuring that action items are documented and followed up on. Develop and manage internal and external reports to keep the CEO and the Executive Committee informed of developments and outcomes. Crisis Management & Problem Solving Act as the point of contact for urgent matters that require the CEO’s attention, handling them efficiently and discreetly with support from the necessary departmental executives. Support the CEO in navigating complex situations, providing analysis and helping to identify viable solutions. Position Requirements

As our culture is remote-first, all employees are expected to have the capability to work from home with a reliable internet connection and to set up a workstation that supports productive work during normal business hours. Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor and be admitted to practice law in the location to which they will work. Due to the nature of this work, those without a JD will not be considered for this role. At least five years of experience in a strategic, high-level operations role, preferably within a law firm or start up in a rapid growth mindset. Proven track record of managing complex projects and initiatives, working with senior leadership teams, and influencing business outcomes. High level knowledge and experience working with the Microsoft Suite of products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Adobe; and Zoom Conferencing Technology. Excellent client service skills and ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner and under minimal supervision. Flexibility and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complex information into clear and actionable insights. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines Able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk while typing, using a mouse, and looking at a computer screen. Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to handle routine or emergent issues. Able to communicate verbally and in writing using a telephone, text messaging, or emails. $225,000 – $275,000 annually. The range presented is a reliable estimate of the base salary that this individual is expected to receive. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, internal and external pay equity, and other job related factors as permitted by law.
