Business Development Manager
to join their team onsite in St. Louis, MO. Interally titled: Director of Business Attraction. Here is more about Greater St. Louis, Inc and this opportunity: Greater St. Louis, Inc. (GSL) brings together business and civic leaders to create jobs, drive inclusive economic growth, and increase the St. Louis metro area's global competitiveness. The Director of Business Attraction plays a critical role in GSL's efforts to attract new companies, investment, and jobs to the bi-state metropolitan region. The Business Attraction team at Greater St. Louis, Inc. markets St. Louis to generate new investment leads and provides follow-on services at no charge to the client to position St. Louis' competitive advantages. Such services may include site location visits, customized market research, financial incentive assistance, and related support. The GSL Business Attraction team works collaboratively with regional economic development partners across the 15-county, bi-state MSA to find the right site solutions to meet clients' needs. To learn more about Greater St. Louis, Inc., visit: https://greaterstlinc.com/ What you will be doing: As the Director of Business Attraction, you will play a critical role at the top of the sales funnel by working closely with other team members of the business attraction team to identify qualified leads, site location projects, and market opportunities aligned with the focus industries identified in GSL's Jobs Plan. Your role will involve analyzing market research and business data, identifying companies of interest, presenting your findings to the team, creating profiles of target companies and their decision-makers, providing data to inform direct marketing activities, tracking leads through the sales funnel, evaluating the performance of the team's business development activities, and making recommendations for improvement. You will work closely with the marketing, business research, and project management team members to ensure that your business development recommendations align with GSL's business attraction strategy. How you will be spending your time: Identifying expanding and relocating companies and their key decision-makers through relationship and research-based resources.
Creating profiles of company prospects and their decision-makers and compiling information to support direct marketing activities. Tracking leads through the sales funnel. Creating lead tracking reports and recommending improvements for improving business development processes. Maintaining a strong working knowledge of St. Louis' target growth industries. Performing market research and business data analysis. Staying updated on trends and opportunities within St. Louis' target industries. Staying updated on economic development, business development trends and best practices. Identifying events, tradeshows, conferences, geographic markets, etc. that are target-rich environments for proactive prospecting. Creating and presenting presentations, proposals, and reports. Collaborating closely with the business attraction team's marketing, business research, and project management members. What you will bring: Bachelor's degree or four to six years of equivalent experience. At least three years of experience in Economic Development or related field. Proven track record of driving business growth. Understanding of business development principles and practices. Prior experience in sourcing site location projects is highly preferred. Salesforce experience highly preferred. Advanced knowledge with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Appreciation for and strict adherence to confidentiality Strong analytical and research skills. Curious nature. Ability to work well in a team environment but also self-motivated. Comfortable communicating job-specific knowledge and expertise. Communicates in a factual, professional, and sincere manner. Focused on producing consistent, accurate, and quality work. Ability to work in a collaborative, agile and fast-paced environment. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple workstreams to meet critical deadlines. Uses specialized knowledge of business development and exercises independent judgement and discretion.
