The base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location.
Salary range: $141,104.00 to $176,380.00
The Investment Office is a key component of the CEO Office, a team whose core function is to support the CEO by providing operational, financial, strategic planning, investments, and corporate project oversight.
Within the CEO Office, the Investment Office is accountable for the profitability assessment of all major investments and other material expenditures within Avangrid, including the preparation of investment materials for Avangrid and global leadership teams. The team is built on the principles of commercial experience, organizational knowledge, active cross-functional collaboration, flexibility and agility, technical knowledge of the investment process, and the ability to advise senior business leaders and functional business areas on their investments.
The Investment Manager is a leader within the Investment Office, managing profitability assessments with the support of Investment Office Analysts and Senior Analysts to provide a comprehensive view of investment and divestment opportunities. The Investment Office serves as both a challenger and partner to the commercial business with respect to transaction pricing and economic viability. The Investment Manager must build and maintain strong relationships with local business partners (e.g. Development, Project Execution, and Operations) and corporate functions (e.g. Control, Risk, and Treasury) as well as international counterparts.
Key activities include:
Modeling the value, pricing and risk of early- and mid-stage development projects
Modeling the value of assets in construction and operation for performance against approved thresholds, proposals for upgrades (including repower), and potential divestment opportunities
Facilitating the approval process for projects, including the deal evaluation process (DEVA); ensuring management decisions are based on the best information available and with appropriate consideration of risks and opportunities
Providing independent challenge to business opportunities from a project, portfolio, and global perspective
Managing the prioritization of tasks within their area of focus including directing the work of Analysts and Sr. Analysts within the team
Supporting the development and engagement of Analysts and Senior Analysts within the Investment Office in conjunction with the Director, Investment Office
Coordinating with corporate teams and international counterparts to support the preparation of strategic growth forecasts for long-term planning
Performing ad hoc transaction, market, and competitor analyses
Supporting different business and corporate areas for various internal and external related analyses
The Investment Manager reports to the Director, Investment Office – Onshore.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in the utility/energy industry with more than 4 years in business and financial analysis
Advanced Excel skills including proven experience in the development and use of financial models. VBA skills an advantage.
Demonstrated strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
An ability to build relationships with individuals at all levels of the business
Strong presentation skills, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must
English language proficiency, both written and verbal. Spanish language proficiency/fluency an advantage.
