Alternatives Capital Formation (ACF)
is a part of the Client Solutions Group (CSG) within Asset & Wealth Management (AWM). ACF manages capital raising and strategy for alternatives investments across the full spectrum of alternatives including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, growth equity, sustainability, secondaries, GP stakes, and hedge funds / liquid alternatives. Within ACF, team members work within product verticals and collaborate across strategies to identify portfolio-wide solutions. They also partner with other teams within ACF, and across CSG, investing teams and wealth management teams. Professional development initiatives provide opportunities to enhance expertise across all alternative investment products, and to sharpen market knowledge from industry experts investing across the Firm. This specific role is for Life Sciences, a private equity strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Principal Responsibilities
Serve as a Product Specialist focused on Life Sciences, helping to launch new flagship funds and other vehicles
Collaborate directly with the Investment team on overall fund strategy, direction and mandate
Working with other members of the ACF and Sales teams and the investing team, lead investor interaction and maintain relationships with new and existing institutional investors on introductory meetings, due diligence inquiries, regular portfolio updates, annual meetings, conferences/events, ongoing investor requests and ad hoc client projects
Collaborate with stakeholders across firm, define strategic direction of fund, develop and execute go-to-market strategies for fund, define target investors, draft marketing materials, track order book versus goals, closely coordinate with fund financing team
Working with the Sales team, identify potential new investors (leveraging existing relationships and other tools) and reach out to them to begin establishing relationships as prospective investors in the Life Sciences funds; this role will involve a significant amount of travel to meet with clients
Produce and update investor materials, including marketing presentations, performance and data analysis, update calls; Utilize intelligence gained from investor inquiry to thoughtfully construct investor materials and effectively distribute the fund / vehicles
Help complete due diligence questionnaires, recurring client/consultant questionnaires; prioritize and manage workflow in context of multiple competing priorities
Coordinate closely with investment team and other internal stakeholders such as legal, risk management, operations, compliance, controllers and tax in order to effectively respond to inbound investor requests and inquiries
Effectively articulate the role of a Life Sciences focused strategy within an investor's portfolio and explain to internal and external stakeholders the investment strategy
Respond to questions internally from senior management and sales channels (private wealth, institutional, third-party distribution) related to the platform
Qualifications
7+ years in a similar or related role, previous experience in Investment Banking or Investing also applicable
Strong interest in private markets, understanding of life sciences / biotech and/or VC and PE products is preferred
Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical and interpersonal skills
Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead global fundraising campaigns and manage existing investor relations
Strong relationship building skills, for use with both clients and internal stakeholders
Strong organizational skills to manage production of a high volume of quality work within tight timeframes, often including multiple simultaneous projects
Attention to detail-proven experience of delivering high levels of accuracy
Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and work well under pressure
Candidate must be a team player and self-motivated
