The Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented
Budget/Business Analyst
to join our Office of Finance. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the financial management and success of one of USC’s leading schools. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on budget activities, supporting our mission to provide excellence in education, research, and patient care. Key Responsibilities: Administer and monitor assigned budgets, analyzing income and expenses to ensure alignment with financial goals. Reconcile accounts, prepare financial reports, and address discrepancies in collaboration with university staff. Assist in short- and long-term budget planning by compiling and organizing data for forecasts. Serve as a liaison for contracts and grants, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and preparing agency reports. Provide guidance on financial policies and procedures to faculty and staff, supporting transactions such as travel reimbursements and purchasing. Coordinate year-end financial activities, including account closures and transfers. Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as requested. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field. 1-2 years of professional experience in budget management, preferably within a university or institutional setting. Proficiency in automated spreadsheets and financial software systems. Strong knowledge of government and fund accounting principles. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for collaboration with diverse teams. Additional Information: This position may involve supervising or leading project-based work for other team members. Familiarity with university financial systems and experience with grants administration are highly desirable. Why Join Us?
