Virtualization Engineer

to join us in Washington, DC. This role is being offered as a hybrid position once a probationary period has passed. Primary Job Responsibilities: Providing IT Virtualization Engineering and Administration support on a wide range of technologies, including VMware vSphere 6.x+, HA, DRS, vSwitches (standard and distributed), VMWare Horizon 8+, Site Recovery Manager, AppVolumes, Profile Management, Certificate Services, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policies, and Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. Serve as the subject matter expert with experience installing, configuring, and administering VMware vSphere/ESXi, Horizon, Dell VxRail, and SAN Technologies. Engineer, maintain, and document a VMware virtual infrastructure in accordance with the customers’ specifications and security guidelines. Diagnose and resolve complex performance, security, and/or technical challenges related to the virtual environment. Produce documentation for use in the configuration, repair, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and operating systems related to the virtualization technologies used by the customer. Performing requirements analysis, requirements gathering, and integration for the virtual environment. Investigating and resolving operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel. Provide technical support, advice, and troubleshooting of systems operations with a 98% target uptime. Produce virtualization architectural drawings and schematic diagrams. Develop and maintain all virtual workstation and server images. Maintain virus definitions, patch versions, and security compliance baselines in accordance with current government standards (DISA STIG, CIS Benchmark, etc.). Providing direction and guidance to less experienced Systems Engineers. Experience and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 5-8 years of related engineering experience. Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2016 – 2022 operating systems. Experience with Microsoft Windows 10/11 engineering, optimization, and automation. Recent 4+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining a VMware VDI (View/Horizon) environment. Recent 4+ years of experience supporting a VMware vSphere 6.x+ environment and related components. Experience developing, testing, and deploying configuration baselines based on DISA STIG and CIS Benchmark. Scripting experience (e.g., PowerShell, VBS, Ansible, Batch). Demonstrated ability to develop plans that consider importance, urgency, risks, and the best interest of the customer. Demonstrated ability to resolve problems by identifying the root cause, developing short- and long-term solutions, and making recommendations and executing the resolution. Preferred Skills and Certifications: VMware VCP – Desktop Management. Microsoft MCSE.
