What You’ll Do The Memory Solutions Lab (MSL) is part of Samsung’s Memory Business Unit, the industry's technology and volume leader in DRAM, NAND Flash, and Storage Device Solutions. MSL’s vision is to solve key problems and optimize architecture solutions for Cloud & Data center environments. We are an integral part of Samsung’s strong R&D focus & lab innovation engine. We work closely with various Samsung teams such as engineering, product planning, and marketing teams to bring new innovative features and technologies to the next generation memory solution product roadmap. We are currently looking for a Firmware Development Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA. The Candidate will be a key technical member of MSL Embedded Solution Software (ESS) team. He or she will join a team of experts in researching and developing next generation memory solutions. Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose, CA headquarters 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time. Job ID: 42356 Research next generation memory solution architectures, features to design, develop firmware Work on firmware development activities such as architecture, code development, validation, lab bring-up, and performance fine-tuning Collaborate with software, firmware, and hardware teams for new features and technology development Collaborate and work with potential customers and partners for technology development Validate new hardware IPs in a virtual environment and develop HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) API libraries. What You Bring BS in Computer Science or related technical field with 10+ years of relevant experience in software or firmware, or a MS in Computer/Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Science with 8+ years, or PhD in engineering or related Science with 5+ years of Industry Experience preferred. Solid understanding of storage technologies and memory solution products Good understanding of computer architectures such as x86, ARM, RISC-V Strong programming skills with C, C++, C++11, Python Experience with firmware development for ARM core using hardware debuggers (JTAG) Hands-on experience with hardware board bring-up, server system integration and software stack integration Good understanding of one or more technologies and protocols such as: NVMe, PCIe, CXL Experience with version control system (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket), code review process, and project management tools Must be highly motivated with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills You’re inclusive, adapting your style to the situation and diverse global norms of our people. Individual pay rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location, as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education, and training.
