GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Summarize the nature and level of work performed.
The student, under close supervision and within established departmental and hospital policies and procedures will perform a variety of general, technical, research, administrative or professional duties to support research activities within the field of cardiovascular medicine in the Ablation Biophysics Laboratory under the supervision of William H. Sauer, MD. This is a temporary job code and intended for the student to gain valuable experiences and insights into the various research roles over the summer. Specific responsibilities will be discussed in detail with applicants and will be project based.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position.These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.
The following listing represents some of the duties of this position in a research area. Other similar duties may be included, as appropriate to the area.The candidate may not necessarily perform all of these duties.
1.
Data Collection Activities:
a.
Collects and codes data into a usable database format.
b.
Transfers collected data to code sheets.
c.
Documents system changes, informing supervisor of conflicts between coding methods and protocol.
d.
Prepares written reports on data, as appropriate.
2.
Research Activities:
a.
Performs basic research experiments in the field of cardiac electrophysiology.
b.
Assist with analysis of experimental data using basic statistical methods.
c.
Performs literature searches.
3.
Laboratory Activities:
a.
Assists with maintenance of a clean and orderly lab.
4.
Project Activities:
a.
Support development of internal research and or innovation projects (diagnostics, devices and digital health) through project management, clinical input and market analysis
b.
Review and
conduct external market research and competitive analysis and be able to present results.
c.
Support with special
events and marketing: assist with development and implementation of signature events including Innovation Series, Idea Labs, Hackathon, Discover Brigham and others.
5.
Performs other similar or related duties as assigned by supervisor Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:
(MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)

Currently enrolled in college degree program
*
High school students with exceptional potential can be considered
*
Some math, statistics, or programming background or coursework preferred
