Director of Catering Sales & Service Who we are… The Ned and Ned’s Club are a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants for like-minded individuals to meet, work and have a good time. Seven years after launching The Ned London in 2017, we are proud to be opening a Ned’s Club in the US capital, our fourth and newest location. The property… Ned’s Club Washington DC is a members’ club set over three floors of a neoclassical style building situated within President’s Park at 734 15th Street NW. The Riggs Building sits opposite the US Treasury and was constructed in 1930. The 12-storey building is located around the corner from the White House and sits above the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream, formerly the historic Riggs Bank Corcoran branch. The Club has a Rooftop Terrace and Loft Restaurant with views overlooking the White House, US Treasury and Washington Monument, plus a Founder’s Dining Room, The Library, Drawing Room, Gallery and Conservatory. On level nine, there is a self-contained floor of private event spaces. As an integral part of the Catering, Events and Service team, you will: Direct and organize the sales and operations of the Catering & Events departments to establish the standards of food and beverage sales, quality and service. Be responsible for direct supervision of the Event and Sales Managers and the execution of all event functions. Communicate, assign and delegate responsibility and authority for the department to the various catering management team and administrative support staff. Develop, implement, and maintain the department’s service guidelines, training, standards of operations, equipment par levels, and event set-up specifications. Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards. Comply with company standards for sales and marketing, while working harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and Executive Committee. Ensure that function set up meets or exceeds customer expectations by working closely with each group's meeting planners to determine their needs. Ensure proper communication and coordination to satisfy guest's requests. Assist customers in finalizing function details; suggest alternatives as appropriate. Make last-minute changes and additions as needed, coordinate with outside vendors when necessary, conduct post-function reviews with planners and solicit re-booking as appropriate. Maintain proper documentation of events, including complete programming of all sales and catering bookings. Compile and review daily list of events, and conduct catering audits as needed. Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual revenue and direct sales goals including outside sales calls, prospecting calls, site inspections, tradeshows and entertainment as outlined. Give personal attention, take personal responsibility and use teamwork when providing guest service. Identify and utilize upsell opportunities to maximize sales above contracted minimum spend. Attend mandatory meetings and departmental meetings. Prepare and furnish all reports for forecast, budget information, and cost controls by implementing effective controls of labor and product cost. Must have extensive experience in event operations and management, including excellent front and back of house communication.
