Position: CYBER SECURITY SPECIALIST I Responsibilities: Cybersecurity Specialist works with System Engineering personnel to incorporate official cybersecurity requirements and security best practices into the development of networked and stand-alone IT systems. Specific job tasks and requirements include: Prepare detailed reports and standard artifacts in support of high-quality DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) Assessment & Authorization (A&A) package submissions Assess and document security posture of IT systems using approved tools and techniques Identify and communicate mitigation and remediation strategies. Perform system scanning, patching and hardening in accordance with established standards and procedures. Creatively adapt guidance to unique situations and implement custom cybersecurity strategies and solutions. Respond to and collaborate with assigned reviewers to provide additional information requests. Certifications preferred Security Network MCSE Linux Required Experience & Skills: Minimum 2 years of full-time information security experience. Candidate must be actively pursuing or possess the CompTIA Security certification. Bachelor’s degree in information security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technology skills Experience implementing security control frameworks (e.g. NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, ISO 27001) Working knowledge of the DoD Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) to evaluate cybersecurity capabilities and optimize security investments. Ability to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance Preferred Experience & Skills: Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science Cybersecurity Work Location: Newport RI, no telework available.
